PRODUCT CARE

WOOL DUVETS

To keep your wool duvet clean and allow the duvet to breathe and wick away moisture, we advise you to use a duvet cover that is a 100% natural fibre.

Regular Care - We recommend that you regularly air your wool duvet to keep it fresh, hanging over a bannister or clothes rail in between bedding changes. On a sunny, breezy day we recommend that you hang your duvet outside to allow the natural antibacterial properties of wool to refresh and keep your duvet in first class condition.

Deeper Clean  - If a deeper clean does become necessary, even though the wool in our duvets has NOT been chemically treated, all of our wool duvets can be machine washed on a wool setting using a detergent that is kind to natural fibres (wool care).   Spin dry well to release any excess water as wool that is saturated will not dry well.  As with all larger duvets, where they will not fit comfortably into a domestic machine, some may need to be professionally washed and air dried.

The quality of our British Platinum grade wool and the unique construction of our duvets means that chemical treatment is not necessary to make them machine washable (with care of course) afterall, sheep have been getting wet since there has been rain!  We take great care to not use chemicals when cleaning our wool and therefore we do not recommend that you Dry Clean our duvets as the chemical residue can stay in the wool filling of your duvet.

Drying - Air dry only.  You cannot apply heat or tumble dry our wool duvets and wool pillows as the wool has not been coated with the chemicals needed to make this possible but you can hang them out to air dry.

MATTRESS TOPPERS

Regular care – We recommend that you turn the topper regularly on the bed.  To keep it fresh, simply hang outside to air which will air away any moisture content that may have built up and allow the natural antibacterial properties of wool to refresh.   Spot clean minor areas of the topper that may require attention.

Deeper Clean – In view of their size, it is not possible to wash our mattress toppers and they should be treated in the same way as a mattress. Areas can be spot cleaned if they require attention.  As with all of our handcrafted products, we do not recommend dry cleaning.

WOOL PILLOWS

To keep your pillow casing clean and allow the pillow to breathe and wick away moisture, we advise you use a pillow cover that is a 100% natural fibre.

However as your mouth and nose are in contact with your pillow, sleeping on a pillow results in a higher and quicker build up of moisture than in other woollen bedding items.  If we have a cold or virus there can be remnants and moisture of this left during our sleep.

It is known that an average pillow doubles its’ weight in 3 years from moisture and bacteria!  It is therefore important to regularly air your pillow and keep it clean.

ORIGINAL WOOL PILLOW

Regular Care - Each pillow is fitted with a discreet zip that allows access to the soft combed wool inside. You can fluff up the wool or take it out to air and refresh in the sunshine.

Deeper Clean - Being purely natural these pillows are washable but extra care needs to be taken if washed as a whole. It is advisable to take out the wool and wash the outer casing separately. If you need a pillow that requires regular machine washing, we would recommend our folding pillow range.

FOLDING WOOL PILLOW

Regular Care – By unfolding the pillow, you can regularly air the pillow in between bedding changes in the same way as you would a duvet.  We also recommend that on a sunny breezy day you hang your pillow outside to allow the natural antibacterial properties of wool to refresh and keep your pillow in good condition.

Deeper Clean  - If a deeper clean does become necessary, our folding pillows can be easily machine washed on a wool setting using a detergent that is kind to natural fibres.  Spin dry well to release any excess water as wool that is saturated will not dry well.

Drying - air dry only.  You cannot apply heat or tumble dry our products as the wool has not been coated with the chemicals needed to make this possible.
