Our range is made from 100% sustainable, responsibly sourced materials. This is something we’ve been committed to, right back to the time of our earliest research into what sort of bedding helps people to sleep better. We also believe that to achieve this, it’s important our supply chain has the same commitment. We carefully select our suppliers, across all aspects of our business, from our products to our day-to-day operations - and we undergo voluntary ethical auditing as proof that we mean what we say.

By sticking to our principles of sustainability, we make products that will not harm the environment when the time eventually comes to replace them. You can recycle them, knowing they won’t be releasing harmful chemicals and micro plastics into the environment. You can even use the wool for compost.

Our wool is 100% British wool, sourced from British farms in Devon and the Southwest, and from farmers we know love their flocks and adhere to the highest standards of animal welfare. Certified by British Wool (formerly the Wool Marketing Board), our wool is fully traceable and carefully selected from a high grade of wool shorn in the Spring or Summer, when the sheep need to be relieved of their heavy fleeces. The sheep then regrow their fleeces in time for Winter. Unlike some, we never use wool as a by-product of slaughter.

Our wool is washed in a family-run British mill, following our strict specifications. No chemicals are used in the cleaning process as this affects the structure of the wool fibres which can impact on its natural temperature regulating properties. Not only that… products with no chemicals are better for you – and the planet.

The 100% cotton fabric we use for the casings of our products is woven to our exacting standards. This fabric is made from cotton fibres that are certified by Better Cotton – a global initiative that supports more environmentally-friendly cotton farming and better socio-economic practices in cotton growing communities.

When these exceptional materials arrive at our workshops in Devon, the magic begins. Each soft bedding item is individually handcrafted by our own experienced seamstresses. Individual handcrafting means handcrafting from start to finish - not mass producing on a roller machine and then ‘hand finishing’.

Individual handcrafting is important because only that way can we ensure that each duvet is skilfully made to incorporate just the right drape, each topper has just the right amount of plumpness, and each pillow is filled with the right amount of hand-fluffed wool or (as in the case of our folding pillows), the correct number of wool layers.
