At Devon Duvets we respect nature and bring to you a collection of products that support nature by using the natural, renewable resources with respect. By respecting nature and using only renewable resources, we do not exhaust the supply and we can therefore all enjoy the benefits of nature yet at the same time contribute towards a more balanced earth and help protect it for future generations.
HOW WE SUPPORT NATURE
ALL of the wool used in our wool duvets, wool mattress toppers and wool pillows is 100% platinum certified wool from sheep reared by British Farmers.
The wool is shorn from live sheep each year during the Spring and Summer months in the centuries old tradition of British Farming and during the year the sheep grow wonderful new fleeces to enjoy in our luxurious natural wool duvets, wool pillows and wool mattress toppers made the next season exclusively for you.
As well as being sustainable, wool is both recyclable and biodegradable.
The standard of animal husbandry on British Farms is extremely high and you can be assured that the sheep providing our wool are some of the best cared for sheep in the world - a good reason to use only British wool.
Once gathered, our wool is cleaned and processed in England without the use of bleach or chemicals and never leaves the country. It is then transported to our Devon Workshops to be handcrafted by our seamstresses into luxurious wool duvets, pillows and mattress toppers, keeping the carbon footprint as small as possible.
At Devon Duvets we make a conscious effort to support British businesses to source our packaging, labels, printing etc. and prefer to use companies that are equally as conscious in operating in an environmentally friendly way.
Disposal of any waste materials from our workshops is controlled with the majority of it being recycled for example, our offcuts of cotton go onto being the lining of rubber gloves and some items are used by a local children's charity for artwork - nothing is wasted.
We continue to make changes to the way in which we package our products to ensure it is as environmentally responsible as possible. We only use recycled cardboard for our boxes and the small amount of plastic we need to use to pack duvets is biodegradable. When sourced, processed and handcrafted into products in England by Devon Duvets, wool is responsible, supportive of nature yet luxurious and wonderful to sleep under.
‘Cherish the gift of nature with Devon Duvets’
How we cherish nature
At Devon Duvets we respect nature and bring to you a collection of products that cherish and support nature by using the natural, renewable resources, that are ethically sourced. By respecting nature and using only renewable and sustainable resources, we do not exhaust the supply and we can therefore all enjoy the benefits of nature yet, at the same time, contribute towards a more balanced earth and help protect it for future generations.
We think about how we can cherish and support nature at every step of the way when individually handcrafting our award-winning, 100% British made products.
How we cherish nature by only using British wool and British alpaca
All of the wool used in our wool duvets, wool mattress toppers and wool pillows is high quality, fully traceable 100% British wool from sheep reared by British farmers who we know adhere to the highest standards of animal welfare and is certified by British Wool. For our alpaca duvets, we only ever use alpaca from approved British Alpaca Society farms and who follow the strictest guidelines for the good welfare of their animals.
Our wool and alpaca is shorn and gathered from live sheep and live alpacas each year during the late Spring and Summer months in the centuries-old tradition of British farming. Both wool and apaca are truly sustainable fibres as the sheep and alpacas regrow their fleeces for the colder months, ready to be shorn the following year. This means that every year we are able to obtain beautiful fleeces for making our luxurious natural wool duvets, pillows and mattress toppers, and alpaca duvets - made exclusively for you.
The standard of animal husbandry on British farms is extremely high and you can be assured that the sheep and alpacas providing our wool and alpaca are some of the best cared for in the world - a good reason to use only British wool and British alpaca.
How we cherish nature in preparing our wool and alpaca
Once gathered, our wool and alpaca is cleaned in traditional British mills. We do not use chemicals, which is better for the environment and better for you. We only use natural white British sheeps wool and alpaca so that it does not need to be bleached. Not using chemicals means that the wool and alpaca fibres stay as nature intended, so there is no impact on their wonderful natural properties of temperature regulation. It is then transported to our Devon workshops to be handcrafted by our seamstresses into luxurious wool duvets, wool pillows, wool mattress toppers, as well as our alpaca duvets. This helps to keep our carbon footprint as small as possible.
When the time comes to replace your Devon Duvets duvet, topper or pillow, it's good to know that as well as being sustainable, wool and alpaca is recyclable and biodegradable. It won't clog up landfil for decades to come but will biodegrade releasing nutrients into the ground. The wool and alpaca can even be used for composting for use in your flower, fruit or vegetable beds.
How we cherish nature with our plant based Botanic range
Our Botanic duvet range offers an alternative to our wool and alpaca ranges. The filling we use contains TENCELâ„¢Lyocell fibres, that are made from sustainable wood sources using an eco-award winning process. 100% plant-based, 100% natural and 100% sustainable, we use the same beautiful, high quality cotton fabric to encase the Botanic filling as we use for our other duvets.
How we cherish nature with our choice of cotton
Cotton is a natural, 100% plant-based fibre and, as such, it works in perfect partnership with the 100% natural wool and 100% natural alpaca in our duvets. Our 260 thread count 100% cotton fabric is woven to our strict specifications from cotton fibres certified by Better Cotton, a global initiative that promotes and supports better environmentally friendly and socio-economic cotton farming practices.
How we cherish nature through our packaging
At Devon Duvets we make a conscious effort to support British businesses to source our packaging, labels, printing etc. and prefer to use companies that are equally as conscious in operating in an environmentally friendly way.
We continue to make changes to the way in which we package our products to ensure we are as environmentally responsible as possible.
- For packing our products, we use an inner hygiene bag, which is recyclable, and an outer 100% cotton calico bag, which is crafted and handblock printed with our logo iby our seamstresess. This can be used for storage purposes of as a laundry bag.
- For our shipping packaging, we use recycled and FSC cardboard.
How we cherish nature through our waste management
We have a zero waste policy and are constantly striving to achieve this - or as close as possible. Disposal of any waste materials from our workshops is controlled with the vast majority of it being re-purposed or recycled. For example, our offcuts of cotton are used by another British company to make the lining of rubber gloves and roll ends of wool, alpaca or cotton fabric that are too small for making our larger products are used to make our smaller products. Any scrap wool and alpaca is composted.
How we have taken the next steps to continue our journey to cherish nature

Having created a range of products that not only respects nature but is specifically designed and crafted with love and care to help you sleep better, it made sense to take that extra step and create a selection of products to help you relax and prepare for peaceful slumber.
